LAND OF FIRE & ICE
This is by far the most fascinating country we have ever visited. Regardless if you are an adventure junkie or a city dweller, there is something for everyone here, and you can tailor your schedule depending on how many days you are staying and what are your preferences. If you come in the winter you can chase the Northern Lights and if you are adventurous you can go on a glacier hike. In the summer you can tour the glacier lagoon, enjoy the glacier hike more, try ice climbing, or drive around the island and see everything. If you are in the mood for relaxation, Blue Lagoon will be your best friend. Not enough time- not a problem, you can do the Golden Circle and see the geyser, Thingvellir and Gullfoss waterfall all in one day. Don't wait too long for this bucket list worthy experience- it does require good health and enjoying all it offers can be physically exhausting.
The nature in Iceland is really from another planet. You can enjoy blue and black ice and glaciers in the morning, walk on green and grey moss covered lave fields in the afternoon, see breathtaking waterfalls the next morning, and top it all of with a climb on an actual vulcano. There is no other place on earth like this. And although Iceland is becoming more popular tourist destination, especially with tourists from North America, it is still a well kept secret for many.
We were especially impressed with the quality of food in Iceland. It's is completely unclear to me how the country with no grain fields has one of the best breads in the world. Their meat is absolutely amazing, as is really everything we tried. We expected many things, but not food that good.
You should make Iceland your next travel destination. With all the trips we took, this remains one of our favourite destinations.
