PARIS OF NORTH AMERICA
Montreal or the Paris of North American as many visitors are calling this largest city in Quebec, is named after the Mount Royal. This small mountain offers some amazing views of the city and it’s location is easily accessible by foot. This was the starting point of our quick visit of this French speaking city in Canada. Yes, in Quebec, French is official language, and do not be surprise if locals speak very little English.
The Mount Royal is the beautiful public park in the heart of the city, with lots walk trails. The Mt Royal Chalet offers some amazing views of the city and downtown, but is also the starting point of the endless staircase towards the bottom of the hill. The downtown is accessible via McGill University, which lays at the bottom of Mount Royal. From here we headed towards the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal, Old port of Montreal and Place Jacques-Cartier.
Restaurants, cute little souvenirs shops, pubs and lots of pedestrian areas are right next to Park Champ de Mars.
